Stanley Long

February 17, 1965 - September 15, 2018

It is with our deepest shock and sorrow that I inform you that on September 15, 2018, Pastor Stanley Long finished the race that God called him to run on this earth. Stanley passed in his sleep early. As a church family we mourn the unexpected loss of our cherished servant leader and friend, but it is clear Stanley was a man anointed by God to bring the hope and truth of the Gospel to thousands of people in Roanoke, Virginia and beyond.

And yet, we do not grieve as those who have no hope. We know with certainty that now - right now - our beloved friend is worshiping in the presence of his Savior, Joy, and Treasure, Jesus Christ.   

Obviously, we all are hurting greatly but our greatest goal right now is to minister with the grace of God to the Long family as a church and to one another.  This has personally come as the greatest shock of my life but I know that every promise of our good God is true and He will give us the wisdom, comfort, love, hope, and courage that we all need to navigate the days to come. 

The best things we can do right now are:

• Pray for the Long family and minister accordingly. 

• Pray for Meredith, Stanley & Kelle’s daughter, who will be flying back from language school in France.

• Pray for our church and the thousands outside of our church who will be impacted.

• Pray for God's glory, gospel, and grace to abound. 

• Pray for great wisdom for our Elders and Pastors as we do step-by-step what the Lord would have us do.

• Love one another.

Arrangements for Stanley Long

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 18 from 5pm to 8pm.
The funeral will be on Wednesday, September 19 at 10am.
Graveside services will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens following the funeral.
Visitation and the funeral will be at Shenandoah Baptist Church.

**The family has asked in lieu of flowers to make a donation to the Camp Eagle Campership Fund.
