Core Courses
1. Life of Christ
This course gives students a general overview of the life and themes of the ministry of Jesus Christ. Students should finish the course with a better understanding of what Jesus did, why He did it, and how they can live on mission with Him daily.
2. Pauline Epistles
This course provides an introduction and overview of Paul’s letters to the early church. Students will gain a working knowledge of Paul and his letters to refine their ability to interpret Paul’s writings and thereby reflect on the personal and corporate applications.
3. Old Testament Survey
This course provides an overview of the structure, promises, and major themes of the Old Testament. Emphasis is placed on major details of God’s plan to bring a Savior to the world.
4. Missions: Your Role in God’s Plan for the Nations
God plans for every believer to be involved in His plan for the nations – either as a Sender or a Goer. This course aims to enlighten minds and enliven passions for the cause of global missions. Students will understand not only God’s global plan etched from beginning to end in the Bible, but their personal, immediate, strategic, effective, and measurable part in that plan.
5. Personal Evangelism & Discipleship
This missional course equips believers in their day-to-day ministry opportunities. Focus is placed on understanding the metanarrative of God’s story and how to participate in it. It will be a worshipful experience that will result in an overflow of personal ministry!
6. Principles of Biblical Interpretation
This course introduces the basics of Biblical interpretation using the grammatical, historical, and contextual principles of exegesis in order to “rightly divide the Word of Truth” for teaching, preaching, and applying the Bible with accuracy and clarity.
7. General Epistles
This course surveys the letters of Hebrews, James, I & II Peter, I, II, III John, and Jude, highlighting each author’s reason for writing, his audience’s cultural context, and the letter’s major themes and doctrinal contributions for personal and corporate application.
8. Bible Doctrine I
This course surveys the doctrines of inspiration, God, angels, and man & sin.
9. Bible Doctrine II
This course surveys the doctrines of Christ, the Holy Spirit, and future things.
10. Bible Doctrine III
This course surveys the doctrines of salvation, sanctification, and the church.
Elective Courses
A. Choir & The Ministry of Worship
This elective provides hands-on experience through participation in the worship choir. Students will gain a theological framework for worship arts and practical skills for leading the church as they are equipped for and united in Gospel-centered worship.
B. Biblical Worldview: Creation, Fall, Redemption
This course examines science, the arts, government, gender, and history using the lenses of the biblical storyline of Creation, Fall, Redemption and Restoration to encourage students to make positive and distinctively Christian contributions in God’s world. A faith-centered approach focuses on developing a Christian worldview rather than critiquing false worldviews.
C. Apologetics
This course prepares students to defend and present the Christian faith to the world in a Biblically informed and loving way. Focus will be given to topics that are debated in our culture such as sexuality, marriage, evolution, and abortion.
D. Homiletics
This course shows students how to prepare, organize, and craft a sermon or Bible lesson. The emphasis will be on using these skills to teach God’s Word to others.
E. Biblical Mentorship & Counseling
This course equips students with the basic principles of personally walking alongside other believers to help them mature in the faith and into the image of Christ.
F. Marriage
This course investigates God’s plan for marriage in order to make good marriages even better! “The Art of Marriage” weaves together expert teaching, real-life stories, humorous vignettes, and more to portray both the challenges and the beauty of God’s design.
G. Financial Peace
This course gives biblical principles for money management, including budgeting, debt-reduction, investing, planning for the future, and giving. Students will learn the discipline and habits to master their financial situation and put their money on mission. (There is a fee for this course)
H. Parenting
This course examines what it means to parent according to God’s design and to train children to love Christ with all they are and have. The format will utilize a guide book will be the Bible and “Gospel-Centered Parenting” and discussion.
I. Biblical Leadership (Men’s Elective)
This course explores what it looks like to be a God-fearing man who leads as a servant in the 21st century. The men in this class will examine the attributes of godly manhood and leaders in the Bible in order to find models for godly leadership.
J. Identity in Christ (Women’s Elective)
There is virtually no venture more empowering for a Christian woman than discovering and living her identity in Christ. This course investigates what the Bible says about identity, along with related topics like how to overcome obstacles to a healthy identity and how identity affects relationships, life transitions, and more.
K. Cultivating Spiritual Disciplines (Women’s Elective)
Spiritual disciplines are the building blocks of Christian growth. Whether stagnant or vibrant, each student’s Christian walk will be enhanced by applying concepts explored in this course, including prayer, fasting, Bible study, and other important disciplines.
L. Biblical Leadership (Women’s Elective)
What does it look like to be a modern Christ-following woman who stewards well her God-given influence for His glory? This course aims to answer that question, exploring godly womanhood and biblical principles to equip women for leadership in the home, the church, and the community.
M. Women of the Bible (Women’s Elective)
The accounts of women included in the Bible are meant to inspire endurance, to offer comfort, and to foster hope (Romans 15:4). In this course, students will examine the lives of several of these women to glean wisdom from their experiences and gain a fresh perspective on the gospel.
N. Pilgrim’s Progress
This course is designed to walk students alongside Christian on his journey from the City of Destruction to the Celestial City. The course only covers Christian’s journey, part 1 of The Pilgrim’s Progress. Then part 2 of The Pilgrim’s Progress tells the story of Christiana’s journey to the Celestial City. As a result of taking this course, a student should expect growth in their own spiritual formation and Christian discipleship and his or her ability to identify key characters by name and meaning and retell the story of The Pilgrim’s Progress with an allegorical application for a new generation of Christian pilgrims.
